Art Nouveau quartz and rhodochrosite mantel vase
Reeded, fan-shaped and made of quartz (some beautiful veining when the light shines through it). The gorgeously pink bands are made of rhodochrosite, otherwise known as Inca Rose (the incas believes that its rose red colour was the blood of their former rulers turned to stone). This lovely pink stone is also known as the ‘stone of the compassionate heart’ for its healing properties and symbolises true love. It became popular in Europe in the 1930s.
