We love large paintings, and were thrilled to source this beautiful seascape of a rocky coastline beneath a cloudy sky, the shoreline covered with what we imagine might be sea lavender. Soft gentle colours for a calming focal point. And a focal point it will be - this is a very large piece in a stunning ornate frame. There is some historical damage to the top left corner but this is really not noticeable when the piece is hung.

A wonderful springlike and uplifting piece. Beautiful country landscape with cherry blossoms in this substantial oil painting from a Spanish Post War artist. And what a fabulous frame too.

Stunning and substantial Italian sgraffito mantel vase (you will need a substantial mantel!) / bowl / centrepiece - delete as appropriate… This is a chunky terracotta piece with wonderfully rustic chippy paint and glaze. It has a most excellent perching griffin to the inside and lemon trees decorating the exterior.

Love at first sight with this beauty. Stunning nude seated on blue cloth with strong, almost angular, shapes and bold colours. We just love the shade of blue used on the stool and the deep red background. Framed in a distressed vintage wooden frame. A really striking piece in a generous size.

Striking Casa Pupo ceramic footed bowl with lemons. In excellent condition, one very small chip to the base. Stunning detail, particularly the basket. This would look amazing as a table centrepiece or on a sideboard.

Midcentury Swedish landscape in a rainbow of colours. The clean lines and use of perspective draw the eye to what might be round the bend. There is something mildly cubist about this one!

When Alessandra found these plates buried in a shop in her hometown in Italy, she couldn’t resist picking them up. Originally made in Deruta, the home of Italian majolica.
They feature drawings of camomile and pink woodruff (‘stellina odorosa’), 20cm diameter. They had been on the wall of an Italian kitchen for many decades and they are in a great condition.
Fabulous large coastal oil from an established Swedish artist whose work can be found in the Modern Museum in Stockholm and the British Museum. Jacques Zadig was born in Paris in 1930, the son of William Zadig, an established and prolific sculptor. Small damage to the top right hand corner, as visible in the final photograph.

This Swedish, midcentury painting is in perfect condition, with a fantastic whitewashed wooden frame. Signed and dated, it is the work of listed artist Karl Axel Gadd.

A super pretty still life of bright flowers arranged in a mid century style white vase by well known Swedish artist Bertil Berntsson (1920-1946). A quiet but eyecatching piece. Gold wooden frame with linen slip in great vintage condition.

A gentle floral still life. This is a lovely piece with soft feminine colours and a fabulous carved frame in chippy paint. The frame does have some historic repairs which add to the overall vintage feel of the piece.

A wonderful picture with green and earthy tones which brings to mind the Shire from Lord of the Rings!
It is the work of Albert Larsen, a Danish painter born in 1885. He studied art with Viggo Johansen at the Danish academy of fine arts and travelled to Austria, Germany and Italy. He lived in Norway for four years and moved to Ystad, in Sweden, in the 1920s where he lived until his death in 1957.
Larsen exhibited widely in Sweden and Denmark, mainly landscapes and florals, but his wood cuts can be found at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the British Museum in London.

Naive coastal oil from Sweden. We love the wonderful contrast of colours against the deep blues and the movement of this super harbour scene, with jolly flags waving.
It’s the work of Stig Kjellin, a Swedish painter of primarily coastal and city landscapes. He was born in 1914 in Southern Sweden; largely self taught, he exhibited at the Boras Kunst Museum in 1943 and 1956, in Gothenburg in 1945 and 1955, Malmo in 1947 and the Gummesons gallery (one of Scandinavia’s most important modern art galleries launched by book dealer Carl Gummeson in 1912) in Stockholm in 1949 and 1955.
Signed and dated 1939, with a dedication to ‘Susanne’ verso.

Dramatic and mysterious seascape with deep shades of blue and confident, flat brushstrokes. Painted by Swedish artist Arne Aspelin (1911-1990), in a fabulous heavy gold frame.

Gorgeous neoclassical lines for this mid century urn shaped vase. Unglazed in an off white.
With its unusual elegant, low shape we had to scoop this one up as soon as we saw it. The vase is actually a very pale pink.

Beautiful coastal landscape of a girl walking in sand dunes. This is the work of Albert Krüger. Born in 1885, Krüger started his career as a naive painter but later turned to landscapes with a controlled awareness of form in the colouristically style. His work can be found in numerous museums across Sweden including the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm.

These jugs are a bit of an Italian classic. Called ‘brocca del gallo’, it is a traditional Italian design, a symbol of good fortune that used to be given to newlyweds or as a housewarming gift. We love them on the dining table with wine or water, but they are also fabulous as a jug for greenery.

A characterful and naive landscape from Sweden. Expressive brush strokes and lots of shades of green keep the foreground in shadow while the hill is bathed in sunlight. This is the work of Swedish artist Johan Harold Öman (1906-1946), who studied at Sköld’s painting school and was represented in several exhibitions in Stockholm, Gothenburg and his home town of Örnsköldsvik.
