Lakeside forest at dusk

£320.00
Sold Out

Evocative and ethereal colours in this abstract landscape by Carl Birger Straat (1914-2008).

Straat was an alto violinist at the Norrkoping Orchestra Association, who in 1940 chose to dedicate himself entirely to painting. He was part of a group of artists that gathered around the painter and sculptor Albert Sjostrom; the group was deeply connected with the Norrkoping and its landscape and Straat interpreted the area with his finely low key colour scape. Stylistically, he worked primarily in an abstract simplified style.

46cm x 39cm.
