A stunning oil on board from Sweden. It’s the work of George Kallkvist (1913-1994), a listed Swedish painter who is well known for his portraits, figure compositions, landscapes and still life, often with a cubist element.
We really love the elegance of this piece and the poetic everyday scene. A man walking with a newspaper behind his back, amongst lush lavender beds. We imagine this is a sunny Sunday morning in Paris (just our guess!)…such a Jardin du Luxembourg-esque scene!
