Moody seascape with white building

Sale Price:£520.00 Original Price:£540.00
sale

This is the work of Hugo Zuhr, born in 1895, a Swedish classical landscape painter who was strongly influenced by the French painters he met on his travels to Paris in 1918.

This fantastic seascape is dated 1938 and it is most likely a Greek scene given his extensive travels to the region. He was elected to the Art Academy (1940) and was also a professor at the Royal Art Academy (1950-60).

The colours are exquisite. The muted blues of the sea and sky, and the green Mediterranean looking plants that you can just about glimpse to the right of the landscape.

65cm x 48cm.
