A wonderful & happy coastal oil.

It’s the work of a remarkable Swedish artist called Carl Gunne (1893- 1979), mostly known as a landscape and portrait painter.

He painted portraits of King Gustav V, king Gustav VI Adolf, prince Eugen, prince Bertil, bishop John Cullberg, Jussi Björling and painter Martin Åberg.

Gunne was a member of the art group “Optimisterna”, (the Optimists) and was inspired by French new realism. His work is found at the National museum and the Waldermarsudde in Sweden as well as in Helsinki, Antwerp, Budapest and the World Bank in Washington DC.

67cm x 61cm including the frame (painted gold with a green strip). Signed.
