Village On the sea
A wonderful large mid century coastal painting from Sweden. It is a beautifully rendered oil of a village by the sea, as the night sets in. The fishing and sailing boats are back in the harbour, and all is quiet. The masterful use of colour and the simple and effective lines draw us into the scene and we are big fans of this painting.
It is the work of Swedish listed artist Albert Kruger (1885-1965) who is represented in many Swedish museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm and the Malmo Museum.
Signed, in a good vintage wooden frame.
